Anticipation Mounts for BTS’s Grand Comeback Amidst Ticketing Irregularities Investigation

Seoul, South Korea – The global phenomenon BTS is gearing up for a monumental return with their fifth full-length album, ‘ARIRANG,’ set to drop on October 20th. This highly anticipated release will be swiftly followed by a historic comeback concert on October 21st at 8 PM KST, marking their first full-group performance in three years and five months. The iconic Gwanghwamun Plaza will host this spectacular event, which is also slated for exclusive global live streaming via Netflix, promising an unparalleled experience for ARMYs worldwide.

However, the excitement surrounding this landmark event is unfortunately shadowed by a significant police investigation into alleged ticketing fraud and macro program abuse. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has confirmed they are actively pursuing three criminal cases related to ticket sales for the concert, with a specific referral from the ticket sales organizer, NOLUNIVERSE, concerning suspected macro exploitation. Authorities are issuing stern warnings against engaging with unauthorized proxy ticketing services, emphasizing the risks of becoming an accomplice or falling victim to personal data theft and outright financial scams, with reported damages ranging from ₩150,000 to nearly ₩300,000 from fraudulent transactions.

In a resolute effort to safeguard fans and preserve the integrity of the event, the police are diligently monitoring various online platforms. This proactive surveillance has already led to the identification and requested removal or blocking of over 110 posts involved in illicit activities, including offers for proxy ticketing, high-priced resale of illegally acquired tickets, and the sale of fraudulent or fabricated tickets. A dedicated task force has been established, with police stations across the city assigning specific teams to expedite monitoring and investigation efforts.

Ensuring the safety and smooth flow of what is expected to be a massive gathering, with up to 260,000 attendees anticipated, will be a paramount concern. To manage the immense crowd, an impressive deployment of 4,800 personnel, including mobile units and frontline police officers, will be stationed at Gwanghwamun Plaza on the day of the concert. As BTS prepares to once again captivate the world with ‘ARIRANG’ and their powerful stage presence, the concerted efforts by law enforcement underscore the commitment to delivering a secure and equitable experience for every fan.
